Groin protection is mandatory for virtually all combat sports competition (amateur and professional) for male competitors, and is strongly recommended during all contact training. What is the shell polymer cup for?

The shell polymer cup is a rigid or semi-rigid plastic insert that forms the outer protective layer over the groin. On impact, the rigid cup deflects and disperses force away from the body before it reaches the underlying soft tissue. The polymer material is selected for its balance of rigidity (for impact protection) and light weight (to avoid restricting movement during training).

How should a groin guard fit?

The cup should sit snugly against the groin without pressing uncomfortably. The waistband should be firm but not constrictive — you should be able to perform high kicks and grappling movements without the guard shifting. S suits a 26–30 inch waist; M suits 30–34 inches; L suits 34–38 inches; XL suits 38–42 inches. Try the guard on before your first sparring session and adjust the straps accordingly.

Can women use this groin guard?

The Pink colourway in this product is designed for women who want pelvic and groin protection during training — the shell polymer cup and elasticated straps provide coverage and impact protection regardless of gender.
