Martial Arts Training Equipment for Home: Build Your Home Gym on Any Budget

Building Your Home Martial Arts Gym

Training at home has never been more accessible. Whether you are supplementing gym sessions or setting up a full training environment, here is what to prioritise at each budget level.

Under $150: The Bare Essentials

A quality skipping rope (RDX 75P Smart Digital Jump Rope), a set of hand wraps (Hayabusa Deluxe Hand Wraps), and a reflexball kit (Hayabusa Boxing Reflex Ball Kit). These three tools support significant cardio conditioning, timing, and basic skill development.

$150–$400: Add a Bag

A freestanding bag opens up proper striking work. The Hayabusa Quick Swap Freestanding Heavy Bag system or an RDX F6 Kara 6ft Freestanding set are the most practical choices for home use. Add a pair of 12–14 oz training gloves (Hayabusa E1 or RDX F6 Kara) and a mouthguard.

$400–$800: Full Solo Setup

Add a double end bag (Hayabusa Double End Ball) for timing and reflexes, focus mitts for partner sessions, and proper gym flooring. Interlocking foam mats protect both your joints and your floor during bag work and bodyweight conditioning.

$800+: Pro-Level Home Gym

Add a 70–125lb hanging heavy bag for the most realistic striking feel, a speed bag with swivel for rhythm and hand speed, and premium gloves (Hayabusa T3 or S4 leather) that stand up to serious daily training volume.

For BJJ and Grappling at Home

A quality grappling dummy allows solo drilling of takedowns, guard work, and submission setups. Add interlocking mats for a proper ground surface and a gi for solo drilling.
