The bo (or bō) is a 6-foot wooden staff and one of the primary weapons in Okinawan kobudo. Bo kata are performed as competition events at WKF karate tournaments and are required curriculum in many traditional karate schools. The staff also appears in Shaolin-derived systems and various Japanese, Chinese, and Filipino martial arts, each with distinct grip and technique conventions.
