What is Tri-Slab™ padding?

Tri-Slab™ is RDX's triple-layer foam construction with Shell-Shock™ gel inserted between each slab. Standard foam-only head guards compress sequentially and can allow force to pass through to the skull. Tri-Slab™ uses the gel layer as a damping medium between the outer and inner foam layers — it absorbs and spreads the initial impact peak before the inner slab reaches the head. The result is a measurably softer secondary force reaching the skull compared to a standard single-layer foam head guard.

Is the face grill required, or can I spar without it?

The face grill is optional and fully removable. For standard sparring where punching to the face is controlled and the primary concern is head and ear protection, many fighters train without it. For open sparring, beginners' sessions, or any situation where face punch control is uncertain, the grill provides an additional barrier against cuts, scrapes, and direct face contact. Remove and reattach as required between sessions.

How do I fit and adjust the head guard correctly?

Measure the circumference of your head at the widest point (above the eyebrows and ears). Place the head guard on your head and fasten the Quick-EZ™ hook-and-loop strap at the chin. The guard should sit snugly above the eyebrows with the cheek protectors covering the cheekbones. You should not be able to rotate the guard with a firm sideways push. If the guard shifts, tighten the strap. If it pinches the top of the head, size up.

Can this head guard be used for Muay Thai and kickboxing as well as boxing?

Yes — the T1 provides full-circumference head and cheek coverage suitable for boxing, Muay Thai, kickboxing, and MMA sparring. The optional face grill adds additional protection for Muay Thai and MMA sessions where elbow and knee defence is a factor. The Maya Hide leather is durable enough for repeated multi-session use across contact sports disciplines.
